Working with Lists of Contacts
Many areas of the Web Client display lists of contacts. For example, the My Contacts page displays your contacts in a list. You can also work with a list of contacts by opening a contact type, marketing list, working list, or by searching for contacts.
Although the different lists may display different information about the contacts, they all work in approximately the same way. You can:
- Select one or more contacts and take actions using the drop-down menus
- Right-click a contact and choose an action from the menu
- Print reports for the contacts in the list (see Viewing and Printing Reports for Contacts)
- Sort the list of contacts by any column. Click the column heading to sort.
- Send an email message to a contact (see Send an Email Message to a Contact)
- Search the list
For details about the different lists available in the Web Client, see the following:

Perform an Action on Multiple Contacts
From a contact list, you can take many different actions on multiple contacts at once. For example, you can select a group of contacts and add an activity to all of them.
To select multiple contacts, select the check box next to each contact in the list.
Note these tips for quickly selecting multiple contacts:
- When selecting large number of contacts, select the check box for the first contact, hold down the Shift key, and select the check box for the last contact. This selects all the contacts between the first and last as well.
- To select all the check boxes in a list, choose Actions > Check All.
- To clear all the check boxes in a list, choose Actions > Uncheck All.
Send an Email Message to a Contact
To send an email message to a contact, choose the envelope icon in the contact list. This opens a new message in your email program addressed to the contact.
To send a message to multiple contacts, select the check box for each contact and choose Actions > Send E-mail.
Note that sending an email message from the Web Client requires a special component on your workstation. If the Desktop Integration components of InterAction have been installed on your machine, then you have everything needed to send email messages. If these components are not installed, the Web Client prompts you to install the necessary items the first time you attempt to send an email message. However, note that security settings on your machine may block downloading software through Internet Explorer. If this occurs, you may need to have your system administrator either change your security settings or install the Desktop Integration components for you.
