Importing/Exporting Reports
InterAction provides you with an import/export tool so you can import and export InterAction Report Definition (IRD) files.
NOTE For information on importing and exporting Overview report sections, see Importing/Exporting Sections.
You may want to import or export reports for several reasons:
- Restore/replace InterAction out-of-the-box reports. If you altered a report and want to restore it back to its original state, this tool can import a report to either replace your current version or add a new copy.
- Transfer reports from a test environment to your production database.
- Export reports to a backup location then import them from that location when necessary.
- Import new reports. LexisNexis InterAction occasionally provides new reports on the Support Center Web Site, through training programs, or through new InterAction releases.
Only report managers and InterAction administrators can import or export reports. For more information on setting up report managers, see Setting Up Report Managers.
Importing Reports
Only reports formatted with the IRD extension can be imported.
-
Log in to the Windows Client as a report manager or an InterAction administrator user.
-
Choose Tools > Reports.
-
Choose Manage.
-

-
Choose the category to place the report in the Report Category drop-down list then choose OK.
-
Navigate to the IRD file then choose Open.
-
If InterAction detects that the report already exists in your database, you receive the a message that the report already exists. Choose Yes to override the existing report, or choose No to add the report as a new report, and name the report “Copy of” before the report name.
The report is added to the Manage Report List dialog box. By default, imported reports are inactive and the security is set to Everyone (all users and groups are allowed to view the report).
See Activating/Inactivating Reports for information on activating reports.
