Overview of Basic Contact Information
Every firm contact in InterAction must have a name. Contacts that are people are required to have last names. The firm may require additional data, including an email address or phone number or both. However, a last name is always required. In addition to recording the name for the contact, you can identify all of the following contact name information:
- Salutations for people
- Goes By name for people
- Also Known As name for companies
NOTE If your organization has language-specific contact information enabled, additional name information can be stored for people contacts based on the language they speak. See Name Formats for details.
In addition, people should be associated to the companies for which they work. Using company association allows you to easily update phone and address information for a company and all of the people who work for that company. In addition, it makes it easier for you to perform complex searches. For example, you can look for all person contacts whose associated company is in the Telecommunication industry.
In the Windows Client, all of this information can be accessed and edited from the General contact details view. The General view should be used to quickly enter the most frequently used contact data.
Using the InterAction Web Client, you can access this information from several different locations, such as the contact overview pages.
