Editing the stages of an opportunity

Opportunity characteristics are set up by your local system administrator. This includes opportunity types. Part of this set up is defining what each opportunity type will result in. Your local system administrator establishes standard stages for those opportunities that are managed processes.

The Stages panel on the Opportunity Overview screen displays those stages for opportunities. When the opportunity is a managed process, the Stages can be edited as the opportunity moves through the process to a proposal. Once the opportunity has reached the proposal stage the Stages panel can no longer be edited. As a proposal, the opportunity is tracked using target dates.

To edit the Stages panel, click the Edit icon and the Edit Stage pane appears. You can select the stage for the opportunity. When the Stage has reached a Proposal stage, the Proposal Type field is also enabled, allowing you to select the type.
