Overview of initiatives

Pursuits and Opportunities can be grouped (linked) to larger items, initiatives. This allows the business to track linked items [opportunities and pursuits] from that top level and then to evaluate the progress and outcome of the initiative.

Users can create a new Initiative from the global New button. In this case, it is unlinked. Initiatives can also be created from the Opportunity Overview and the Pursuit Overview screens. In this case, an initiative is linked to the opportunity or pursuit open.

To create a new initiative, you must enter a unique name and a description.

IMPORTANT Note that initiatives have no opening or closing dates. They will persist. They are also not tied to any company or industry; generally, pursuits and/or opportunities are.

To link an existing opportunity or pursuit to an existing initiative, open it in the [Pursuit or Opportunity] Overview screen and use the Link button in the Associated Initiative panel. InterAction Business Edge displays a list of available initiatives. Select the appropriate one and click Save.

To link an existing opportunity or pursuit to a new initiative, click the Add New button in the Associated Initiative panel. This allows you to create a new initiative linking directly from the pursuit or opportunity.
