Tracking Business Development Interest
InterAction provides a Business Development Interest marketing list (with sponsorship). This folder allows users to indicate that they are interested in having a particular contact marketed to by the organization. From the Web Client, a professional can indicate that they want the organization to market to a particular contact. This links the contact into the Business Development Interest folder and adds the professional user as a sponsor.
Users can add contacts to this folder easily when creating new contacts. If you do not want to use this folder, you can remove the check box from the new contact wizard with a configuration option (see Hiding Business Development Tracking Options in the Web Client and PIM).
NOTE You can change the label of this check box by renaming the term Business Development Interest. For more information, see the Configuring InterAction guide.
Identifying Business Development Interest on a New Contact
The Business Development Interest folder has additional fields that marketing can use to track information about the contacts that the organization is targeting in marketing activities. The following additional fields are included in the Business Development Interest folder out of the box:
- Preferred Method of Communication
- 1st Line Social Invitation
- Functional Role
NOTE Refer to the Configuring InterAction guide for the default list items for each of these additional fields. You can edit these list items, if necessary.
The Functional Role allows you to maintain a standardized list of job titles. Different contacts may have completely different job titles even if they are performing the same role. For example, one company may have an Information Systems Director while another may have a Chief Information Officer. Performing searches based on job title, therefore, can be difficult. The Functional Role field allows you to set the person’s role from a finite drop-down list, which increases the accuracy and simplicity of searches.
