Overview of Merging Multiple Duplicate Contacts

Despite InterAction’s preventive tools and your organization’s user training, duplicate contacts may be created. Thus, you need a simple way to both identify all potential duplicate contacts and fix them in one action.

InterAction offers the ability to identify and merge multiple contacts that are duplicates into one good contact. This feature also helps you identify the duplicates by searching on criteria other than just the contact’s name.

In addition, you can merge more than one group of contacts at the same time. For example, if you have identified three contacts that are all Jane Adams and two contacts that are both David Adami, you can choose Merge All Groups to merge these contacts at the same time into one Jane Adams and one David Adami.

NOTE The Merge All Groups feature is only available when the contacts are using a grouping option. If you select Do Not Group Contacts, the Merge All Groups button does not appear.

The Multi-Contact Duplicate Merge feature is only available from the Data Quality menu and requires you to have the data quality permission. For more information about assigning users the data quality permission, see Assigning Users the Data Quality Permission.

The Multi-Contact Duplicate Merge feature does not support merging multiple, externally owned contacts. If you need to merge externally owned contacts, use the Merge Duplicates feature. For more information on how duplicate contacts can be found and merged, see Managing Duplicate Contacts.
